From Carpet Manufacturer to International Success

In 1883, brothers Carl and Adolf Vorwerk founded the Barmer Carpet Factory Vorwerk in Co in Wuppertal, Germany. Since then, over the past 125 years Vorwerk has developed into a international group of diversified companies.

They developed the first Kobold vacuum cleaner in 1929. It was revolutionary at the time, being far less bulky than the other vacuums available then – reduced down to motor, dust-bag and handle. Even this first model was notable for its power and versatility. To this day, Vorwerk Kobold vacuum cleaners have an unrivalled reputation for quality and performance.
